Empty bulk bags pile up faster than anywhere sensible to put them, and most sites end up paying to have them taken away. They are woven polypropylene, they bale down small, and there is a market for them.

How woven polypropylene recycling works
Bulk bags go by several names depending on who you ask. FIBCs, tonne bags, big bags, builders bags: they are all the same material, woven polypropylene, tough enough to carry a tonne of aggregate and still recyclable at the end of it.
Woven PP is a good material to recover. It is a single polymer, it bales densely, and reprocessors take it readily. What matters is that it stays woven PP: a bag full of residue, or mixed in with other polymers, is a different proposition entirely.
Some bags carry an inner liner, often tacked at one end. That is usually a different polymer and comes out before processing, which is straightforward and nothing to worry about. Just tell us if your bags have them.

Preparation and quality
Empty is what matters. Ordinary wear, dust and a bit of dirt from use are fine. These are working bags and we do not expect them clean. What we cannot take is bags with product still in them.
Bale them if you can. Bulk bags are mostly air when loose, so a bale carries several times what a loose load does. If you have not got a baler, tell us how many you have and we will work out whether it is worth a collection.
Tell us what was in them. Aggregate, feed and fertiliser are straightforward. Anything that was chemical or hazardous needs a conversation first.
