PVC turns up in two quite different forms and they are not interchangeable. A fabricator's window offcuts and a cable stripper's insulation waste are both PVC, and they go to entirely different places.

How PVC recycling works
PVC comes as rigid or flexible depending on whether it has been plasticised. Rigid PVC, also called uPVC or RPVC, is the construction material: window and door profile, pipe, guttering, cladding and trunking. Flexible PVC is the same polymer softened with plasticisers, and it becomes cable insulation and sheathing, flooring, tubing, inflatables, roofing membrane and banner material.
Both recycle, but they are separate streams with separate outlets, and mixing them makes a load harder to place rather than simply larger. Colour matters too: white profile is the most consistent grade, while brown, woodgrain-foiled and mixed-colour material is handled differently.
The commonest problem in rigid PVC is what is still attached. Glass, gaskets, steel reinforcement and hardware all need removing, which is why post-consumer frames need more processing than clean fabrication offcuts.
PVC grades we take
- Rigid uPVC profile Window and door profile offcuts from fabrication. The cleanest rigid grade. White · foiled · mixed colour
- Post-consumer uPVC frames Replaced windows and doors. Glass, gaskets and reinforcement removed, or by arrangement.
- Rigid PVC pipe and fittings Clean offcuts and redundant pipe from plumbing, drainage and industrial installation.
- PVC sheet and cladding offcuts Clean waste from fabrication and installation.
- Flexible PVC Cable insulation and sheathing with the copper removed, flooring offcuts, tarpaulin and banner offcuts.
- PVC regrind Single-grade rigid or flexible regrind, by arrangement, subject to specification.
Preparation and quality
Keep rigid and flexible apart. They are different materials commercially and mixing them devalues both. If you produce each, keeping them separate is the single most useful thing you can do.
Strip what does not belong. Glass, gaskets, steel reinforcement, screws and hardware all need to come out of rigid profile. Copper must be out of cable waste. Clean fabrication offcuts need none of this, which is why they sit at the top of the grade.
Colour is worth separating. White profile is the most consistent grade. Foiled, brown and mixed-colour material still has a route, but keeping white apart is worth the effort if your volumes justify it.
